Patients (newly diagnosed or relapsed, n = 20) whose leukemic cells grew aggressively had a poor clinical outcome. In contrast, patients whose leukemic blasts displayed either no tumor growth or an indolent growth at initial presentation (n = 22) had a favorable clinical outcome.
