Osteogenic marker and extracellular matrix expression analysis of long-term MSC cultures on β-TCP scaffolds. The osteogenic markers BMP-2, RUNX2, and OPN as well as the extracellular matrix proteins collagen I, fibronectin, collagen IV, and laminin were analyzed after 8 weeks in culture. Data were calibrated relative to MSCs growing in collagen I/III gels, where gene expression was set to 1 for all genes. GAPDH was used as a housekeeping gene for normalization.
